Calculator Form Templates
Fillin Forge has no ready-made calculator templates: none of the 168 templates is a calculator, and none of them has a Calculation field. A calculator form is built from scratch with the Calculation field, which is a Pro field. This is what the field does.
Building a calculator
- Add the input fields: number fields for amounts and quantities, and choice fields (dropdown, radio buttons, checkboxes) for options.
- Add a Calculation field below them. In Formula, use the tokens listed under Available tokens, for example
{price} * {quantity}. - Set Prefix (for example a currency sign), Suffix and Decimal places if you need them.
What the formula can do
- The result is a number. The formula takes numbers,
+,-,*,/and parentheses. The page script removes every other character before it calculates, so functions such as round, min, max or if, the percent sign and text results are not available. - A number field counts as its number. The value of the chosen dropdown or radio option counts as the number its text starts with, and the values of the ticked boxes of a checkbox group are added up. An empty or non-numeric value counts as 0. Options you type in the builder have the typed text as their value, so an option typed as 10 counts as 10 and one typed as $10 counts as 0.
- The Available tokens list does not offer another Calculation field, so build each result from the input fields.
- Decimal places goes from 0 to 6. Without it the result is rounded to two places.
- The result updates when the visitor types in a field or changes an answer, with no Calculate button, and it is kept in a hidden field of the form.
Charging the result
The Payment (Stripe) field (Pro) can charge the result: choose Dynamic (linked to Calculation) and pick the Calculation field in Linked Calculation field.
